The company has celebrated its fiftieth anniversary, which incited us to recapitulate the past and consider coming times. Hauni Maschinenbau AG of Hamburg, our parent company, was a business partner of our predecessor Sopianae Engine-Works in 1992-93. Like many other companies of the former regime Sopianae was put into liquidation. As the winner of the tender, Hauni could buy the Sopianae Engine-Works. Why did they decide to do so? Among the many reasons the hundred-year old tradition of manufacturing and the professionally skilled workers of the company had distinguished priority. At that time Hungary was a cost-competitive country, which made her attractive for many foreign investors.
These comparative advantages were strengthened during strategic development. It meant the transfer of knowledge from the German parent company to the employees of the Pécs plant. Now it serves as a firm ground for further development. The competitiveness of Hauni Hungaria Maschinenbau is guaranteed by the growth of recent years, the know-how and the expertise of the employees. Personnel motivation and flexibility is the basis of the long run competitiveness of the company. To sum it up, both investors and employees are optimistic about the future.
