The local municipality identified accessibility as a key factor creating industrial areas. That is how two sites, one directly located in the city centre and one in the eastern part, were established. The businesses settled in the central site are renowned representatives of the traditional industries of the city: machine, leather and instrument manufacturing industries. After closing down the mines, the former leading job provider industry in the area, a new opportunity arose in the eastern part of the city by the complete recultivation and extension of the area. The municipality of the city has made one-piece sites of 15-50 ha area and with a 5% maximum slope available. These sites are most suitable for greenfield investments, lying along the national main road network and meeting all requirements.
Besides creating industrial sites, training and re-training adapted to economic demands have become key factors. This ensures the continuous availability of relatively cheap workforce that is highly qualified and is trained to use state-of-the-art technologies. The local government encourages the settlement of manufacturing industries using environment friendly technologies and creating jobs.
